"The Center for Research in European, Economic, Financial and Tax Law (Centre or CIDEEFF) is a research and development unit based at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (FDUL) with the cooperation of two institutes namely - the Institute of Economic, Financial and Tax Law (IDEFF, created in 2003) and the European Institute (IE, created in 1985) (referred to as the Institutes). This interdisciplinary alliance brought together top Portuguese researchers, in the field of Law and Economics, and created the bases for oriented scientific and research projects, thus giving them the opportunity to stand out in a field of growing importance at the national and international level.
CIDEEFF promotes research on the economic and legal challenges raised by the democratic deficit in global governance and the growing asymmetries, by the need to ensure the functioning of public services and by market failures, and by the way in which the European governance model, with the exception of the risks derived from its recent performance, represents an example of governance worldwide.
