Following the 2011 Conference Portugal 2011. Coming to the Bottom or Going to the bottom? which took place on 31 January and 1 February 2001 in the Auditorium of FDL, which generated intense debate and enormous public reaction, IDEFF and IE are organising the Conference The European Union’s New Clothes. This meeting aims to contribute to the clarification and discussion of the results reached at the Competitivty Pact Summit.
The European Financial Stability Facility, with a total of 750 billion euros, was created by the Eurozone countries on 9 May 2010, as a financial safeguard for countries of the region.
It has however become apparent that the size of the EFSF might not be adequate and that consensus has not been reached as to its scope of operations. Germany and France have in the meantime come forward with a proposal for a competitivity pact which contains aspects which are extremely controversial.
The European Summit on 24 and 25 March will take the key decisions for our future. IDEFF is organising a day to discuss this which is expected to generate intense debate.
Provisional enrolment has now opened and can be carried out at IDEFF: ideff@fd.ul.pt/ 351 217 962 198 or 351 961 497 070
