The Relationship between Industrial Property Rights and Defence of Competition in Pharmaceutical Markets – The "AstraZeneca” Case and Other Developments

IDEFF, in association with the European Institute, have the pleasure of inviting you to attend the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on the GENERAL THEME of – The Relationship between Industrial Property Rights and Defence of Competition in Pharmaceutical Markets, held under the scope of the Annual Cycle of international Conferences and Workshops associated with the Eighth Postgraduate Course on Competition Law and Regulation.
This International Conference will include contributions from Doctor Arjen Meij, Ex-Judge of the Court of First Instance/CFI (currently General Court, in Luxembourg; Judge in the CFI on the date of the delivery of the  “AstraZeneca” judgment, on 1 July 2010); Professor Doutor Oliveira Ascensão, Senior Emeritus Professor of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (FDL); Drª Monica Alfaro (European Commission – DGCOM); Dr. Luc Gyselen (LLM Harvard School of Law/LLM College d’Europe/ Arnold & Porter Brussels)*; Dr. Gonçalo Anastasius (Master in Law FDL/Partner at SRS Lawyers).

The initial presentation of the General Theme of the Conference and the Speakers will be made by Professor Doutor Luis Morais Silva (Vice-Chairman of IDEFF and IE). The Conference proceedings will be divided into two Panels - the first having as its Moderator Professor Rui Moura Ramos (Senior Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra/Head of the Constitutional Court) and the second will have as its Moderator Professor Doutor Luis Silva Morais

The INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE will be held on 5 May 2011, at 15:00 in the Interdisciplinary Complex of the University of Lisbon (see the indication in the attached Google Map - http://www.ciul.ul.pt/portugues/mapa/mapa.html)
