The texts that are now published correspond to some of the interventions in the inaugural Conferences of a research project conducted by three Centers of the Portuguese Academy, entitled "ART63 - The right to social security and the crisis. Social regression as normalization of the state of financial exception".
Given the high quality of the contributions collected at that time, the Conference organizers considered it important to disseminate them as widely as possible, assembling them in a publication.
The analysis highlights the changes in labor markets and labor relations, marked by elements of flexibility and even precariousness in the way they are structured, articulated with rapid and transversal technological changes across different sectors of economic activity, and which challenge the Portuguese social protection system, in terms of both funding and adequacy.
