The World Trade Organisation's Dispute Settlement System: A New Hope or a Naive Utopia for Climate Change Mitigation

Alongside the growth and liberalisation of world trade, climate change has begun to concern the entire international community and has been the subject of discussion over the last decades. This report focuses on the link between the dispute settlement system of the World Trade Organisation (hereinafter referred to as “WTO”) and environmental protection; specifically, this study aims to understand to what extent the WTO and its dispute settlement system contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
